Overstreet TaeKwonDo Academy

Testimonial - Matt M.

I am a 2nd degree level 4 and have been doing TaeKwonDo for about 4 years now. When I first started TaeKwonDo I was actually forced to do it by my parents, and I had absolutely no interest in doing it at all. Ever since my first class though, my interest in TaeKwonDo and martial arts in general has greatly increased, and has taken over as huge part of my life.

It has impacted me in many ways, one major way is the community of it, the friends you constantly make from doing something that you love to do is very rewarding. Another thing I love about TaeKwonDo is the amazing competition that you get from this sport. Tiger Rock constructed the tournaments so well they inspire you to push yourself harder and harder, to try to grab that gold from the numerous great competitors. Also in doing these tournaments it is always a fun experience and you always feel like you are in a completely safe and well constructed enviroment. Now from the physical aspect, I have learned to take that very seriously, I work out daily to keep in top shape and from that I eventually(with much. . .much effort) started eating a lot healthier.

From the "spiritual" side that I got from TaeKwonDo I learned how to pick your fights, how to be more humble and let the little things in life brush past you and continue on. The single biggest thing I have taken from TaeKwonDo is finding out how well your instructors have taught you, that they taught you so well that you feel inspired to teach it yourself. Something I never thought I would ever want to do happened when I was talked into becoming a trainee instructor. I found joy and accomplishment that you get from teaching the art that you love, is so much more satisfying than anything else I have been able to do in TaeKwonDo. TaeKwonDO has taught me a lot about things in life. I started from despising having to go to my first TaeKwonDo class , to having it be the most enjoyable experience I have ever done and I am very proud to say I am a part of Tiger Rock.
