I am 15 years old student at Alamogordo High School. I have been practicing Tae Kwon Do at Overstreet’s Tae Kwon Do Academy for about 4 years now. I have been doing the Jiu-Jitsu program since it was introduced at the academy. Then learning Han Mu Do, while taking a sword and short stick class to round out my full experience. I have so far accomplished a 2nd Degree Level 1 Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, Level 2 student instructor in Tae Kwon Do and Orange Belt in Jiu-Jitsu. I enjoy practicing all of these programs because they will make me a better martial artist.
My experiences in the programs at the academy have influenced my life for the better. I was a shy unconfident kid when I came to Alamogordo, New Mexico 4 years ago. The Academy was a community I felt that I belonged to. I met my 3 best friends as well as many other people I developed friendships with at the academy. Not to mention the physical gains like my approved cardio, flexibility and strength. I learned to be confident there by going to tournaments for Tae Kwon Do. It was very easy considering I had a whole group of friends to back me up and cheer me on.
